Kathryn the Great

So Mom decided it was time for me to meet the lady I was named after. It was time for me to make the big trek to Adair County. So off we went in Aunt Erin's Trailblazer, two C-Monsters and a Grandma in tow. And an 18 foot trailer, but that's a story for another time. I will tell you this, though. Ask Aunt E what happens when you try to take an 18 foot trailer through the McDonald's drive-thru...
A baby has got to do her stretches before she gets in the car for a long trip.

What? Did you forget how pretty I am?

The ride was so long. Actually, I have no idea. I slept all the way there. Atta way to put the pedal to the metal, Aunt E!
There are few places in the world as great for a nap as Grandma. Maybe none at all. Can't you see how much she loves me?
I wasn't the only one nappin' out. Cousin C was all monstered out. He naps too.
Don't listen to him. No matter what he says, he was napping. I saw him.
Believe it or not, Grandma can't just sit around and hold me all day. I know, what else could be as great as holding me? She totally thinks she has a right to other things, so I decided to test drive her bouncy seat. Not bad, G-ma.
I discovered my fist while I was in Stilwell. I had been sucking my thumb, but I couldn't give Mom the satisfaction of capturing that amazingly cute moment.
And here's the reason why we ventured all that long way in the first place. My Great Grandma Kathryn! That's right, folks. She's the lady I'm named after! She's a lady with lots of stories to tell and I can't wait to hear them all. That's four generations of ladies right there and I'm proud to be listed with these fine women.
Even Grandma Kat loves me! Can't you tell. P.S. She said I was pretty too.
Here's another four generation span. Aunt Erin sure thought it'd be four generations of women, but then again, Colin has been keeping her on her toes since Hawaii.
We may not all look alike. We may not always get along. But we love each other. We're family and that matters. Plus we take a nice photo.
And as family traditions go, here's the women in the kitchen. We may not be baking cookies, but don't worry. No bets were placed on this domino game. Just an innocent round of 42. See the car seat? That's me between my grandmas. Learning at the feet of the masters.

Even Colin got to play!

Happy Father's Day!

For Father's Day, I took dear old Dad out to Mickey D's for some ice cream. Aren't we a good looking pair?

Here's a picture of me swooning over my main man.

Wah! Look out for the C-Monster! No, not me. Colin is right behind us.

See Colin in the bubble? His dad is right behind him. Quite the couple, those two.

And Grandpa was there to hug on all his babies.

So here's wishing a Happy Father's Day to all the important dad's in my life: Grandpa, Papa John, Uncle Steve, Uncle Randy, Grandpa Murray and most especially to - my very own dad. For a guy that thought he might never get a critter like me, he deserved to have the happiest day of all!

One Month Old

I'm one month old now. I'm 9 pounds and 8 ounces and I'm 22 inches tall. That's 50th and 75th percentiles, respectively. Which is a far cry from my original 3rd and 25th. Stay tuned to the Lottiekat network, folks. I'm growing too fast for you to look away.

Pretty kid, huh?

28 Days Later

The last month has really been something. Everything has been a learning experience. For example:

Day 16: Newborn jammies fit better than 0-3 month jammies. Mom really thought I was going to be a big 'un when i was still inside, but that was just me stretching that one leg out and sticking her in the ribs.

Sidenote - you can see what I'm looking at. I don't have to tell you what happens there and no, it did not take me until day 16 to figure it out. I'm a girl that likes her groceries.

My bouncy seat is the per-fect place for a snooze. Gives that cradle feel like when somebody snuggles you up real close. I recommend picking one up at your local Walmart or Babies 'R' Us.

Day 20: Grandma Karen and Papa John came to visit. What did I learn from this? I've got lots of people that love me. And I think I got Dad's eyes and I think he got them from Papa John. Also, I learned that grandparents have no problem holding a baby while she sleeps. Mom should take notes and quit telling Dad to put me down.

All that fun does wear a baby out, though.

Day 21: RUN FOR YOUR LIFE!!! But what do you do when you can't run? I was visciously attacked by a feral cat... well, it was Eliza, Mom's attitudinal cat. I was minding my own in my bouncy and all of a sudden she got spooked, freaked out and ran across my head.

Look at my head! I cried, but only for a second. I got over it pretty quick. Dad took an hour or so to calm down. Mom is still freaking out. Eliza is on probation, whatever that means.

Looks terrible, I know. Anybody want a cat?

Here's the guilty party. I'd like to say she doesn't always look like that, but if I'm offering her up for sale or sacrifice, I think you should know what you're getting yourself into. Two words:
Bad. Attitude.

Day 26: Bottles aren't so bad. Got the same juice as Mom... just a little different on the delivery. Now Mom can get more than 2 1/2 hours of sleep at a time and Dad really does like to do it. I think he feels left out. Mom says that's just too bad. He should've gotten in the line for boobs instead of... You get the idea. And it's hateful. Told you Mom needs sleep.

Day 27: Grandpa loves me. This is a man that likes pink, folks. In fact, he is tickled pink to have me! Can't you tell? From this, I learned that even an old man with arthritis can wrap around a tiny little finger like mine.

Day 28: In four weeks I've learned a lot. These people are the Goins. Goinses. Goins'? The family Goins. Karen, Gary, Ryan and Nikki. And even though we aren't really related, they love me like their own. So the moral of the story is this:

Everybody loves me. Except for the cat.

Bubble Bath

WARNING! Proceed with caution. Extreme cuteness ahead. Just thought I'd let you know.

Check that tummy. Don't you wish your tummy was that cute? P.S. Mom and Dad - buy some size 1 Huggies next time. The newborn ones ain't gettin' it done.

See my baby 'ceps? I am one beautiful thang, I know.

This is my bath. Mom puts the soap in first cause she doesn't trust me not to dunk myself while she's trying to soap the rag. She's such a worrier. Not that Dad is much better. He used to hold my head! Parents...

And check out my new bellybutton! I can make it pop out on request... Or maybe just when I get mad. Hard to tell.

Don't worry. She's using Aveeno, not the giant Palmolive bucket behind my head. I smell like baby, not oranges.

Thanks for the Winnie the Pooh towel, Aunt E!

Cute, clean and smelling good. Don't you wish you were here to kiss this baby?

I see that look on your face. You're falling for me. Don't think I haven't noticed.

Memorial Day Weekend!

Baby's first holiday weekend. Mom's best buddy from the third grade came to visit. I hope I have a friend someday that will stick by my side that long. Seriously, Mom's old. The third grade was a long time ago for her.

This is Miss Mandi with me. You can't see what's on her left ring finger because of all my cuteness, but I'll give you a hint: It's shiny and Mister Eric gave it to her. I think it means he likes her...

I stole Mister Eric away from her, but how could he resist my good looks and charm? Relax, I gave him back. Their wedding next May would be pretty boring without him.

Whew! Holidays are hard. I had to rest up for the big event.

Never seen a baby so cute, have you? Mom waited as long as she could before she put this outfit on me. See my smile? That Dad is just pretty great, let me tell you. My cuteness mostly came from Mom, but my sweet disposition is all his.
Aunt E and Cousin Colin. Yeah, he's cute too. But if you're into that, go see his blog. Anyway, the day was full of excitement for everyone.

I supplied the beauty to be admired by all.

Colin provided the water sports.

I got hot, but what's a baby to do in the Oklahoma summer heat? Gotta keep my perfect tan.

Here I am explaining the meaning of tan to Aunt E. Clearly, she's never grasped the concept.

Come to think of it, nobody has a tan like mine. Are we sure I belong with these people?

To close out the weekend, Miss Jessica and Mister Brad were our last food bringers. Here's a great big thank you to all our friends at Park. The grub was great - Mom's milk has never been better!
