Independence Day

So this is it! My first 4th! We all trucked it out to the Ford to spend the day at Colin's house. There was good food for all to share, except for me cause nobody wanted what I was having.
Aunt Nikki was sure happy to get to spend the day with me.

Colin wasn't sure at first. I think he was afraid I'd steal his limelight. Hey, give the kid a break. On the cuteness front I'm at least giving him a run for his money!

He did finally warm up to me. Eat your heart out, Grandma and Grandpa! P.S. Thanks for the matching shirts, G-ma. I look forward to our matching pj's at Christmas.

Enough of that mushy stuff. Time for the main event. Dad, Colin and Uncle Steve started the show with a few smoke bombs in the front yard. Don't worry, Colin was in no danger. Can't say the same for Uncle Steve - he burned himself on a smoke bomb. No, I'm serious. You can't make this stuff up.

Aunt Nikki, me, Aunt Erin and Mom sat in the garage and watched. Only the coolest people get to watch from a swing.

We moved to the front porch just time... for the rain. Thanks for the warm snuggles, Aunt Nikki!

Told you only the cool people get swings.

But by the time the fireworks started, I was ready for bed. I went upstairs and got my jammies on. P.S. Mom forgot my jammies and I had to wear some of Colin's. Next thing you know she'll be forgetting my underwear.

Mom didn't mind missing most of Dad and Uncle Steve's show. She was worried about me. We watched from a window upstairs, but I was still not into the spirit of the event. Is this how you Americans celebrate your independence? Blowing stuff up?! Oh, wait...

But there's not anything a little snuggling can't fix.

See, all fixed up. Happy 4th everybody!
